Orientation and Mobility (O&M)
COMS #23254 ยท ROMSA #95
Our Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist, Jessica Taylor, works with NDIS participants of all ages who have vision impairment, including Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI). O&M training builds the skills and confidence to move safely and independently at home, at school or work, and out in the community.
How we can help
- Early intervention: building foundational mobility, spatial awareness and independent travel skills from an early age.
- Adults: maintaining, enhancing or rebuilding your community independence and travel confidence.
- CVI specialisation: assessments and training tailored for Cortical Visual Impairment.
- Routes you use every day: planning safe, predictable routes to the shops, school, work or appointments, and practising them with you, step by step, until you feel confident on your own.
- Mobility aids: training with a long cane, identification cane, support cane and other aids.
- O&M with assistive technology: setting up your phone with larger text, stronger contrast and zoom, using apps that read labels aloud, and practising a back-up plan if you get lost.
Sessions take place where you need them: at home, school, work or in the community. You set the pace, and we give you written or audio steps to keep.
